The editors have done an excellent job of condensing a diverse wealth of knowledge into an acessible format. A large international team of contributors and UK editors, who are active and renowned in their particular fields, has written the chapters and this provides new approaches and ideas. There is good use of high-quality photographs and diagrams, with the easy layout allowing information to obtained quickly. This is a much-needed textbook that provides detailed information on poultry diseases, and is of interest to veterinarians working with small-scale and large-scale poultry-keeping situations.

I am a veterinarian interested in expanding my chicken knowledge. This book has good information but has very few pictures, and the way that it is arranged makes it difficult to look up rule outs for a disease based on symptoms observed. It is written for mostly high production systems, and doesn't have much info at all on individual problems. It seems to be written for British poultry vets, but it does also include US info. I would not recommend this book.
