About the Author
Lori Quaranta was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1957 and raised in the town of Trumbull, Connecticut. She presently resides in the same state, allowing her to enjoy friendships with a longevity that is priceless. Currently, she is a Small Business Internet Marketing and Publicity Specialist and is the owner of Consetta Web Solutions LLC, Consetta Creative Publicity and Consetta Publishing. She is a strong advocate of supporting women and has dedicated specific pages on one of her web sites to highlight amazing women in business and key organizations and resources that support women worldwide. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) and a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is the author of The Midlife Woman; Reinventing Yourself in your Second Adulthood written for women by a woman who has successfully reinvented herself and her career in midlife and God's Funny That Way, an inspirational, true story about one woman's life- altering journey from surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm, to the realization that through God's ever present love and nurturing, anything is possible. In an effort to help those less fortunate who have also suffered this devastating trauma, Lori is donating a portion of the proceeds from this book to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation. She is currently working on her next manuscript with the working title, Take Me Back; a nostalgic piece on childhood memories. Lori has been interviewed on various issues relating to women in midlife by The Weekend Today Show, First Wives World and Good Housekeeping magazine. She has also been quoted in assorted editorials on internet marketing and publicity by Microsoft Office Live, Business Development Crossing, Divorce360.com and More.com to name a few. Lori has a wonderful daughter, Lindsay, who is currently pursuing a college degree in Nursing and is also in a loving and supportive relationship with her boyfriend.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism My best friend is currently recovering from a ruptured brain aneurysm, so I have complete sympathy for what the author went through and I regret if my review seems disrespectful. That said, this mini-book offered little useful Insight that I hoped to gain. At roughly a mere 40 pages (excluding messages from the friends and relatives of the author and the end of book), the text offers none of the Insight I hoped to gain. Moreover, I can't say I felt completely sympathetic with the author upon completing the book. Having left her husband who had been by her side during the ordeal, I felt more sympathy for him than I did the author when all was said and done. Sure, there may be more to that story to explain the divorce. If there was, however, it's one of many key holes in the book.
The text offers nothing useful for a friend hoping to learn how to work with a victim of this type of brain injury. Instead, I would recommend reading "Brain, Heal Thyself". I appreciate that writing this book may have been a cathartic experience for the author. For that alone, I'm sure it was a worthwhile exercise. Unfortunately, aside from whatever portion of the purchase price was donated to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, I thought this book was a waste of my time and money.
