As a pharmacist, we are many times put into the position of having to know the same disease state guidelines and treatment therapies as physicians. Finding that information can be frustrating if you don't keep a good library of resources. This Lang resource is what you need. Quick and concise is what I would characterize this as. Having Dipiro's, Koda Kimble and Goodmans and Gillmans for pharmacotherapy/therapeutics, all of which are good in their own way, this book in some ways outdoes them. Don't get me wrong, you won't find the in depth MOA's, pathways etc of drugs in this resource. What you will find are the basics of disease states, treatments parameters and guidelines. For example, Chapter 10, Heart Disease has nearly 50 different disease states included. Some topics such as STEMI, NSTEMI and Chronic Stable Angina are covered more indepth than say Tricuspid Stenosis, but being able to find this type of information in one source quick and easy is more than worth the price of this book. The quality of the paper is good, highlighting doesn't really leak through to the other side of the paper, but can be seen slightly from the other side. It is soft cover and heavy. Very good book and a must for heath professionals of all disciplines. Be sure to get the latest version though, guidelines are updated periodically so keep current.
