Product Description
Many people can't get comfortable CPAP therapy using traditional nasal masks because of common complaints like pinching, soreness, leaks and pressure points. Respironics made that insight the inspiration behind the ComfortLite 2. The first thing you'll notice about the Comfort Lite 2 is its unique soft, fabric headgear. Unlike other masks that use the nostrils for seal and stability, the Comfort Lite 2 uses a ÒHaloÓ headgear design and forehead mechanism for stability. This allows the interface cushion to provide a comfortable, reliable seal with no pressure points. In addition the ComfortLite 2 offers three nasal interface options so that you have a wide variety to choose from to find the right, most comfortable for you. The New Nasal Pillows offer a highly contoured pillow interface that fits comfortably into the nostrils for an easy, leak-free seal. The Simple Cushion slides over the tip of the nose reducing the bulk and pressure points common with most nasal cushions. The Direct Seal's two curved cushions seal gently, but securly on the nostrils without actually ever inserting into them. With its unique headgear and three cushion styles the ComfortLite 2 reaches an all new level of personalized comfort. Each ComfortLite 2 Combo Pack offers two cushion styles -- either Nasal Pillows and Simple Cushions or Direct Seals and Simple Cushions -- and each offers two sizes of each cushion as well -- either Small and Medium or Medium and Large.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism Long story short, I had used my CPAP machine for a month about two years ago with the "Classic" mask. After a month's use, I found myself waking up with the "Classic" mask off - it had bothered me enough that I would take it off in the middle of the night. I basically gave up on the whole thing. I took another sleep test recently and the sleep center suggested I try this mask and it made a huge difference for me. I immediately bought one and I was actually dreaming again which means I was getting to REM sleep which I wasn't before. To me, the difference was the nasal pillows and the large pad on the forehead instead of the Classic's mask and small gel (which was almost like Chinese water torture to me). There are enough adjustments for me to find a comfortable fit. The two head straps are soft so even lying on your side is comfortable. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is, the swivel part on top normally gets caught up on my pillow which causes pressure on the nasal end of the mask. But all I have to do is reach up and get it to swivel to one side and then it's fine. Also, after the first few times I used the nasal pillows, the edge of my nostrils started becoming sore. I don't know if I just got used to it or more likely, I got better at adjusting the mask so it was snug without too much pressure on my nose. I briefly tried the simple cushion and the direct nasal. The simple cushion was too similar to the classic mask in that it put too much pressure on the bridge of my nose. The package I got was sized Small/Medium which was good for the nasal pillow but I could've used a Large size for the simple cushion. The direct seal did not prevent the air from leaking out the sides without the head straps being pulled too tight so I didn't find it useful. With the colder weather and dryer air coming, I am having a problem with the heater/humidifier I have. Basically, depending on the heater/humidifier setting, I either wake up with a really dry mouth or I end up getting drops of water in my nostrils. I don't think it's a problem with the mask, though, so I will look for another heater/humidifier - maybe there are better designs now for that, too. In summary, I'm sleeping much better with this mask than the "Classic" that came with my CPAP machine. Highly recommended.
