Bunion Burt by Marsha Hayles and Jack E. Davis

Jack E. Davis was senior art director with a a large ad agency before becoming a children's book illustrator. Among the books he has illustrated are Bedhead by Margi Palatini, Metro Cat by Marsha Diane Arnold, Music Over Manhattan by Mark Karlins, and the ongoing series The Zack Files by Dan Greenburg. He lives in Port Townsend, Washington, and has three sons and two cats.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) Sometimes I wonder about children's books that are trying to convey more practical messages. After all, what do most kids know of bunions?? Not much. But hurting feet? I think they do know a good deal about those from time to time. Regardless, as I read through this I found myself smiling and chuckling aloud. Poor Bert's subjection to many an ill-devised remedy. The rhyming was delightful, as were the illustrations. I can see this easily pleasing preschoolers and early readers a like, with the correct, peppy telling of the story. What's more, I'm sure podiatrists are happy to have a new talking tool to use with young ones :) Overall, a very cute read-aloud book about a subject matter most of use wouldn't think needs 'discussion' with kids.
