This bunion care gel sleeve / splint utilizes an advanced polymer gel pad to shield bunions from abrasion and pressure. Better yet, as you wear it, medical grade mineral oil is slowly released to moisturize and soften skin. This one-piece elastic fabric sleeve is easy to slip on. Wear for extended periods without discomfort. Developed by a prominent foot care physician, this sleeve contains a large soft gel pad designed to cradle and protect the bunion from abrasion and pressure while releasing a medical grade mineral oil to moisturize and soften the skin. Also helps prevent the formation of painful hypertrophic and keloid scars. This product is washable and reusable. For health and hygiene reasons this item is not returnable once removed from sealed packaging.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism A couple of weeks before Halloween, I was climbing a ladder and injured my previously trouble-free bunion. By the next morning, the pain was so bad that I could barely walk. I've never used anything to help with bunions, but with 2 little kids at home and Halloween approaching, I was desperate. There are no reviews for this item, but it looked like what I needed so I took a chance. I even requested overnight shipping. Boy, am I glad I did! My package arrived the next day, and not only was I able to participate in our local Zoo's Halloween festivities that afternoon, but I was even able to take my son on a somewhat lengthy trick-or-treat walk around the neighborhood a few nights later. This is an awesome product!
That out of the way, I'll tell you more about the product itself. In the picture, it appears opaque. It's not. It's beige and not see-through at all if that matters to you. Didn't to me. There's also a little knotted thread separating the big toe from the others. I found it rather uncomfortable to wear this way so I used a pair of manicure-size scissors to remove the knot/thread. Be careful if you do this. I accidentally went through the sleeve itself with the tip of the scissors, but after several months of on/off wash and wear, the hole in the sleeve hasn't expanded so that's good. I wear a Sz 8-8.5 shoe so I ordered the size Small/Medium, and it's not tight at all. The sleeve is stretchy spandex-like fabric, and the bunion pad is some sort of silicone gel pad. I wear the sleeve under my sock, and my foot doesn't get too hot though my shoe feels tighter. At the end of the day, I do have an imprint of the sleeve on my foot, but it's no worse than you get from dress socks or hose. The first couple months, I would hand wash the sleeve each night at bedtime so it would be ready to wear again the next day. After a while, it seemed that the sleeve wasn't fitting as snug as it was before so I started throwing it in the washer at least once a week in conjunction with my regular nightly hand-washing. Comes out just fine. I've even thrown it in the dryer once or twice and still good. In fact, I've got no complaints at all. I'm walking much better now, even going days at a time without needing the bunion sleeve. I credit this product with getting me this far. Good buy!
