No, I haven't read this book, but I'm not trying to sell something, just to tell fellow sufferers what I've found out. Alternate between at least 4 toothbrushes and never use the same one more than once a day (in a wet climate you might want to wait 2 days before re-using). Brush your gums, tongue, teeth and end with a light brush across the sore. This dramatically cut down on the number of canker sores in my mouth at one time and on the length of time they lasted (they rarely last more than 4 days now and sometimes go away in 1 day).
