    From Library Journal
Nutritionists Keane and Chace, authors of What To Eat If You Have Cancer (LJ 10/1/96), turn their attention to nutritional therapy for heart disease. They explain in technical detail the cellular physiology of the cardiovascular system and the disease processes of athero-sclerosis, dyslipidemias, hypertension, homocysteinemia, heart failure, and Syndrome X, a condition resulting from multiple factors that affects mainly women and is only now being recognized. Since so little has been published on Syndrome X, this particular portion should be of great interest to some readers. The authors devote the second half of the book to educating the reader in determining current nutritional intake and listing diet plans for healthy changes. They recommend specific food groups, with serving sizes and portions, and include warnings about foods to avoid. While the recommendations are clear and useful, the technical jargon used to explain disease processes is a major detraction to all but the most determined reader.
