Susan Orr and Howard VanEs have mastered the subject of repetitive stress injuries. As one who sits in front of a computer as much as 8 hours a day, I have personally struggled with repetitive stress injuries. "Office Ergonomics" is the most comprehensive book on the subject I have encountered. I have already made adjustments to my work areas based on guidance from this book. Anyone working at a computer should read this book before they become injured. --Jerry Mellin,Senior Manager, Human Resources-Web Delivery, Kaiser Permanente
"Office Ergonomics is great at simplifying a complex subject. This is a highly informative and easy to use book that makes working at a computer safer and more enjoyable. A copy should be issued with every computer sold!" --Fred Winslow,Senior Director, Information Technology (Retired), Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism
This book was useful for very general information, however a good bit of the information is freely available elsewhere (e.g. the Internet). The nicest thing about a book like this is that you feel that the knowledge within is more "certified" or more "professional" than the knowledge available online, as it is coming from a professional in the field.
The drawbacks of this book, however, are the poor editing which resulted in numerous typos and grammatical mistakes, giving the book a sloppy appearance. Hence, why I think the book would be worth perhaps $10, but not the full cover price of $14.95. I learned a little bit more than I all ready knew on the subject of carpal tunnel, but the book did not provide enough information as to make me feel that I did not need more resources. It is a fairly decent introduction to the topic of office ergonomics, but it will definitely leave you requiring further literature on the subject in order to gain more knowledge and Insight into carpal tunnel and repetitive stress injuries.
