Posting this review for Ada S. Phelps, who is not registered at amazon because we share my account: "Cancer For Christmas is funny and very informative. Casey details her approach to battling cancer from the mammogram that lead to her "gift" and her trip through the "medical care car wash," as she describes it, to the end of her chemotherapy. The book, as written, sounds very much like she was in front of me telling me her story - I could almost see her face as I read page after page. The importance of doing research, educating oneself, arming yourself with information before your visits to doctors, asking questions and getting support and, most of all, speaking up - all come through loud and clear. Casey's message is simple but profound - take care of your own journey through medical care. At the end of the book she describes nuggets of wisdom about medical insurance coverage and expenses that "Dr. Google" led her to, all of which I found eye opening. She very helpfully lists her resources and references, too. It's not a fun subject, but I liked the way she told her personal story - at times very funny and at times very sad but, in the end, the story of a gutsy survivor."
