"An excellent blend of eastern yoga and western medicine." Shar Lee, Senior Yoga Teacher
"The program in this book has been extremely useful in my search for help with Interstitial Cystitis. The ease and flexibility of the exercises has allowed me to adapt the program to my specific needs as they have changed." C. K., Student
"This is an excellent program for someone with Chronic Cystitis. The section on Yoga for a Bad Day has been particularly helpful for me as the repeated attacks of Cystitis often leave me too exhausted for other types of exercise." R. L., Student
"This book is highly recommended to people working on healing themselves. It should also be required reading for students and teachers of yoga therapy. It is useful and valuable for all." Olivia Hudis Alakananda Devi, M.B, B.S (Lond), Founding Teacher, Alandi Ayurvedic Grurkula (In-residence School for Ayurveda), Boulder, Colorado
"As one of the first women board certified in urology, I have, for quite some time, observed that many chronic problems attributed to the bladder (or other pelvic organs) are actually caused or exacerbated by muscle contraction in response to pain. This condition flies beneath the radar of standard medical explanation. Here, at last, is a book identifying this problem and offering practical ways for people to help themselves." Dr. Muriel R. Friedman, MD

I have Interstitial Cystitis and I think this is a great alternative book for people with IC. Dr. Ripoll and Ms. Mahowald have a very practical, no nonsense, but kind and sensitive approach to the subject of IC and helpful exercise. At first, I was a little intimidated by the thought of doing yoga (I also have no burning desire to stand on my head or anything like that), but the yoga in this book is easy, uncomplicated, and very well laid out for someone who has been in pain for a long time with IC (14 years in my case). There are a lot of hand drawn illustrations (as opposed to some of the more colorful yoga books with photos I've seen, but never bought) which get theidea of each exercise across very well. I like this book and really do feel more relaxed and less stressed after I do one of their exercise sessions. I would recommend it very highly to anyone with IC (even if they are 54 years young like I am).
