DGL X-Tra (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice) Glycyrrhetinic acid from licorice has been used successfully in treatingulcers; however, these substances have other properties that are undesirable in ulcer treatment. When glycyrrhetinic acid is removed, a safe, effective preparation for ulcer treatment results. Licorice enhances the quality of mucus excreted, increases life span of surface epithelial cells and number of cells in the mucosal membrane. NAG (N-Acetyl Glucosamine) increases tissue-building properties. Gamma Oryzanol, (rice bran oil), is listed in the Merck Index as an anti-ulcerative agent. Parotid Gland concentrate aids in breakdown of the licorice in the stomach.
